Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 4, 2026
Velera (“Velera,” “we,” or “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it through our compliance with this Privacy Policy.
This policy describes how we handle personal information belonging to visitors to velera.energy, customers who buy or have installed a solar system, homeowners we contact in the field, and anyone who applies for a job with us. Personal information means information that identifies, relates to, describes, or is reasonably capable of being associated with or linked to you.
Please read it carefully. We may modify this policy at any time; changes take effect when posted, and material changes will be conspicuously posted here or otherwise communicated to you. The date above tells you when the text last changed.
Children
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you are under 16, do not provide any personal information to us. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 16 without verified parental consent, we will delete it. If you believe we may hold information about a child under 16, contact us at legal@velera.energy.
How we collect personal information
- Directly from you — when you request a quote, sign an agreement, use the customer portal, apply for a job, or contact us.
- From our sales representatives in the field — including when we visit your home.
- Automatically — limited technical information when you use our website or portal.
- From third parties — including finance partners, utilities, and permitting authorities involved in your project.
Information you give us
- Name, postal address, email address and telephone number.
- Information about your property relevant to a solar installation — roof condition, utility provider, existing equipment, and photographs of the site.
- Information required to process financing, which may include information you provide to a finance partner. Where a lender collects your financial details directly, that lender’s own privacy policy governs it.
- Records of your correspondence with us, including email, text messages and chat. Where permitted by law we may record or retain calls.
- Your responses to surveys, and reviews or feedback you provide.
- Documents you upload to the customer portal.
- If you apply for a position: your résumé, employment and education history, and related information.
SMS consent is not shared. If you opt in to text messages, that consent and your number are not sold or shared with third parties for their own marketing.
Information collected when our representatives visit your home
Our sales representatives use a mobile application when canvassing neighbourhoods. When a representative visits a property, the application records the street address, an approximate GPS coordinate, the date and time, and the outcome of the visit — including where nobody answered the door.
We record this to manage territories, avoid returning to homes that have asked us not to call, and measure our own sales activity. Where you speak with a representative and express interest, we also record the contact details you choose to give.
If you would prefer we did not retain a record of a visit to your address, or you would like to be added to our do-not-knock list, email legal@velera.energy with your address and we will action it.
Information collected automatically
Our website is a set of static pages and does not use analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or behavioural tracking. We do not serve third-party advertising on it, and we do not build advertising profiles from your visit.
Our customer portal uses a small amount of browser storage strictly to keep you signed in. It is required for the portal to function and is not used for tracking or advertising.
Our web hosts keep standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for security and reliability purposes. Because we do not use behavioural tracking, we do not act on Do Not Track (“DNT”) browser signals.
Mapping and roof analysis
To assess whether a property is suitable for solar, we use third-party mapping and solar-analysis services. These return aerial imagery and an estimate of a roof’s solar potential for a given address or coordinate. When our sales tools display a map, the mapping provider receives the coordinates being viewed and may collect information under its own privacy policy.
How we use personal information
- To respond to your enquiry and prepare a proposal.
- To design, permit, install, inspect and energise a solar system at your property.
- To arrange financing with a lender you select.
- To carry out our obligations under any contract between us, including billing and service.
- To provide customer support and keep you informed about the progress of your project.
- To operate the customer portal and send you notices relating to your account.
- To manage sales territories and representative activity.
- To send you information about our services and promotions, where you have not opted out.
- To improve our services, and to conduct analysis, research and quality assurance.
- To protect the security and integrity of our systems, and to protect against fraud and other liabilities.
- To comply with legal and regulatory obligations, including those of utilities and permitting authorities.
- For any other purpose with your consent.
If you do not want us to use your information to tell you about our services, email legal@velera.energy.
If you apply for a position
- To process and evaluate your application, and to communicate with you about it.
- To conduct interviews and, if you are offered a position, background and reference checks with your consent.
- To improve our recruiting, and to retain your details for future openings unless you ask us not to.
How we share personal information
We may disclose personal information:
- To service providers who support our business and are contractually required to keep it confidential and use it only for the purposes we specify. This includes our cloud hosting and database providers, transactional email and SMS providers, electronic signature provider, error-monitoring provider, and mapping and solar-analysis providers.
- To finance partners you choose, to arrange funding for your system.
- To installation subcontractors and dealer partners engaged on your project, limited to what they need to do the work.
- To utilities, authorities having jurisdiction and inspectors, as required to obtain permits and interconnection.
- To a buyer or successor in a merger, acquisition, reorganisation or sale of assets, where personal information is among the assets transferred.
- To comply with a court order, law or legal process, including a government or regulatory request.
- To enforce our agreements, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of Velera, our customers or others.
- With your consent, or for any other purpose disclosed at the time you provide it.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
We may disclose aggregated or de-identified information, which does not identify any individual, without restriction.
Data security
We maintain measures designed to protect personal information against accidental loss and unauthorised access, use, alteration and disclosure. Access to customer records is restricted to those who need it, and our systems limit what each user can see.
Security also depends on you. Keep your portal credentials confidential and do not share them. Transmission of information over the internet is not completely secure; while we take reasonable steps to protect your information, we cannot guarantee the security of information transmitted to us.
How long we keep personal information
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described here — which, for a customer, includes the working life of the system and any warranty or service obligation — and for any longer period required by law, including tax, contracting and licensing requirements.
Third-party sites
This policy does not apply to websites we do not own or control, even if you reach them from our site or services. We are not responsible for their privacy practices and encourage you to read their policies.
Where your information is held
Our systems are hosted in the United States. If you access our services from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.
